16 May Get your home “summer-ready” to sell
As summer approaches, the team at Krueckeberg Auction & Realty has a few tips to help you get your home freshened up for the upcoming selling season. Many buyers are looking to move over the course of the summer, so highlighting seasonal amenities will encourage a speedier sale.
Highlight the outdoors – With warm weather, comes more time to spend outdoors and appreciate nature. Mow the lawn, trim the bushes, and tend to the landscaping. Make your front entrance welcoming by planting flowers or displaying potted plants. In the backyard, clean your deck, porch, or patio and make any necessary repairs. Don’t have any of those? Set up some chairs or outdoor furniture to stage the space as an outdoor room. If you have a pool, keep it clean, and make sure your chemicals and supplies are safely stored out of sight.
Bring summer indoors – Use bright, summer hues to freshen up your space. Replace dark pillows with tropical prints, store blankets in closets, and add in decorations that remind people of the season, such as seashells or trendy pineapple accents. Fresh-cut flowers will serve as a natural air freshener and a way to bring the outdoors in. Also, don’t forget to remove heavy drapes, and keep blinds open. Make sure your windows are clean so buyers can check out the view.
Keep the air cool – Selling your home over the summer is not a time to skimp on your cooling bill. Circulate the air by cracking windows or adding fans if you are not comfortable turning the air up. A cool home will help buyers linger longer.
Offer summer refreshments – While we are not recommending you provide a full summer barbeque, chilled bottles of water or glasses of lemonade will help buyers have a more positive experience and again, linger longer. Light snacks also are appropriate for an open house or showing.
